It’s alarming! According to a recent survey as many as 72 per cent of sexually active young people in India have had sex with new partners without any protection.
At least 40 per cent of the youth polled in India say they had problems accessing contraceptives when they needed, while 36 per cent said they knew a close friend/ family member who have had an unplanned pregnancy.
What is a cause of worry is that nearly one-third of the youngsters get wrong information about contraception from friends. The survey, conducted in April-May this year, focused on the issue of unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
